4th International Symposium on Maria Szymanowska and her time entitled ‘Jewish Women in Maria Szymanowska’s Europe : Talents, Ambitions, Perspectives’ : Paris, 19-20 September 2019

A particularly rich program and rarely presented musical illustrations have attracted an attentive and faithful audience. The remarkable participation of the actor Daniel Mesguich reading the excerpts from ‘Jakob’s Books’, Olga Tokarczuk's last novel, translated by Maryla Laurent and published at the end of 2018 by Editions Noir sur Blanc, crowned this fascinating exchange on little known history of women of talent and power coming from the Jewish culture, at the turn of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. A few days later, Olga Tokarczuk was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature 2018.
